Blepharoplasty for Puffy Skin & Wrinkles Around Your Eyes

You feel good and you look good … well, except perhaps for the puffy skin and deep wrinkles around the eyes. You have to admit that they make you look tired and older than you are. There is, however, something you can do about that. It’s called blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, and it works.

What is blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a highly effective cosmetic procedure that can be performed on both the upper and lower eyelids, or both if needed. The upper eyelids can create puffiness and a “heavy” look. For the upper eyelid surgery, skin and fat are removed through incisions, by a certified surgeon, and the skin is brought together with a thin stitch. In the lower eyelid procedure, the incision is made below the line of the lash or on the inside of the eyelid to take away excess skin and wrinkles. The inside surgery is especially effective for people who need fat removed. Sometimes fat is added to improve sagging skin, and in some cases, the eyelid is tightened to take away that “droopy” look.

Who is a good candidate for eyelid surgery?

You might consider yourself a candidate for blepharoplasty if you are distressed by one or more so-called anti-youthful problems. Do you have noticeable bags under your eyes? The loose skin that is creating folds over your upper eyelids and sometimes interferes with your vision can be removed. Blepharoplasty can erase those unattractive puffy eyelids and also correct droopy lower eyelids.

If you are in good health and have any of these problems that are disturbing your sight in some way, you should talk with a board certified cosmetic surgeon to see if you are a good candidate for eyelid surgery. If you want to look better, blepharoplasty may be the right decision.
