Understanding The Options For Cosmetic Lip Surgery

If you think that your lips are too big or too small, then there are a number of cosmetic surgery options available for you. A cosmetic procedure can improve your appearance and increase your confidence. Below is a list of some of the options for cosmetic lip surgery:

Lip Reduction

A lip reduction is a cosmetic option that reduces the size of the lips. A small incision is made during this procedure. The incision will be hidden inside of the mouth. The red part of the lips will be turned inward, which will make the lips smaller. Local anesthetic is used during this procedure.

It typically lasts about one hour. The lips will be bruised and swollen for two weeks. Final results will be visible after six weeks. Keep in mind that you may experience a temporary loss of sensation in the lips. This procedure is also known as a lip-plasty.

Lip Augmentation

Lip augmentation can increase the size of the lips. The lips are enhanced by turning the red part outward. A filler can also be injected can be injected into the lips. Local anesthetic is used during this procedure. It will last about an hour. The swelling and bruising can last for two weeks.

Gummy Smile Correction

If too much of your gums are exposed because the lip is lifted too high, then you can get this surgically corrected. Botox can be injected into the upper lip in order to prevent it from contracting when a person smiles.

Upper Lip Rejuvenation

The upper lip is often one of the first parts of the body to show signs of aging. Wrinkles around the upper lip can be corrected with injectable fillers or dermabrasion. A sagging upper lip can also be surgically lifted. The surgeon will make a small incision before surgically lifting the lips. The scar will be hidden inside of the nostril.

It only takes about 30 minutes to perform a lip lift. Local anesthetic is used to minimize pain.
