Prevent Benign Moles from Turning Malignant
Moles are spots that are discolored and can be found on any part of the body. Everybody has the potential of experiencing a mole on their bodies, and there are many people who are more prone to moles than others. Suspicious moles are of particular concern. A suspicious mole could indicate a far more serious health concern, which is why it’s always recommended you have your mole inspected by a trained professional. Mole removal is a very simple and safe form of cosmetic surgery, which can also be used as a life-saving measure, if the mole is indicative of something more serious.
Exercise caution and consistently inspect any suspicious moles for potential malignancy
If you have moles it is important to watch them to make sure they do not change dramatically. This type of activity could signal a cancerous or malignant mole. Once you know whether or not the mole is cancerous, it is recommended to have the mole removed, particularly if it has become large and raised above the skin. This can allow peace of mind and comfort for patients that any potentially cancerous mole has been removed from their body.
The mole removal process
The process of mole removal is a fairly easy surgical process. First, the area is numbed. You will be awake for this procedure because of its level of simplicity. The depth and size of the mole will determine how deep the cosmetic surgeon will have to go in order to completely remove it. The mole is then removed with a scalpel, leaving a wound in its place.
There are two ways that your cosmetic surgeon will close the wound, with stitches or by cauterizing the area (searing the wound with a heated electrical instrument). You’ll then be provided with some antibiotics in order to avoid infections and to help heal the area.
Modern cosmetic surgery techniques have decreased the chances of scarring and improved recovery time to the satisfaction of many patients.
